Studio and me!

My exploration into fused glass started seven years ago, following an education in fine art and many community art projects in Manchester and London. It started with a short course at St Martin’s College – little did I know then that it would ignite my passion and take over my working life!

Fine art is still hugely relevant to my work today; the start of a design always begins with a drawing. Each design layer is refined, redrawn and colour added, then the fun starts! There are so many methods and techniques used in fused glass it is mind-boggling at first – trial and error is an essential part of the progress. Prior to glass fusion, I have experimented with enamels to achieve a crisp opaque line in screen print or a painterly appearance with lino print, using top quality glass materials.

Inspiration comes from the landscape; misty mountains, cool blues of the sea, precious pebbles on the beach and stormy skies. I often use embedded copper words within a dish or sculpture explaining an inspired theme.

Designs are incorporated into tableware and a range of sculptures. I believe that functional pieces deserve equal attention, becoming artistic pieces in their own right.

Current work on show and exhibitions

Examples of my work are on show at Wisley Gallery, Wisley RHS Gardens, Surrey. This wonderful little gallery is part of the Wisley shop, within the beautiful gardens of Wisley RHS. The gallery is run in a collective manner by the contributing artists. Please come and say hello!

See my contact page for future exhibitions.
